"Witness, Healings, and Hope"

News of Shrine Patrons

Chosen passion-bearer of Christ and gracious healer, who freely grantest healing to the sick, we praise thee in songs as our protector.
As thou hast boldness with the Lord, free us from all harm and sickness who cry with love to thee.
Rejoice, Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon!

Coordination of international prayers continues---I am happy to
implement the wishes of the Shrine Founder by agreeing to add names, requests for
prayers and expressions of gratitude to this Testimony Page. Notices may be
sent to me at webmaster@kontakion.com
. Until such time as someone is
authorized to do so no vigils are being lit. Founder George hopes to copy
names and intentions from this site for posting at the Shrine. Thank you.

  • February 7, 2007, In a recent auto accident the impact totaled my old automobile. My immediate thought was disappointment as I had invested heavily in repair of the old car only weeks before, hoping to keep it on the road for another season. I consoled myself with the apostolic teaching that all things work for good to them that love God and that it was my place to endure and await what mercy God would reveal within the apparent misfortune.. After the initial bruising and pain wore away it became apparent that my chronic back pain was significantly reduced [the impact had worked like a severe chiropractic treatment]. It is now easier for me to stand in church to chant. Perhaps other blessings remain to be discovered. As a nurse myself I look to St Panteleimon and the other Unmercenary
Healers, to our dear Lady Theotokos and to my patron the Holy New Martyr Peter the Aleut for their intercessions to the merciful Lord Jesus. I thank Him and them for their continued patience and love toward this sinful, Peter,  Mt. Morris, NY, USA

Since then she has had several treatments of chemo-therapy and has never been sick as a result of the treatments and her cancer has gone into remission by 50%. Thanks to our Lord Jesus Christ through the intercession of St. Panteleimon and the Theotokos and the prayers offered at the Shrine of Panteleimon in Masontown, Pa. Glory be to God!!!!!!!!! • A 2005 pilgrim, who was healed of a dermatological condition after devotions at the Shrine, wishes to publicly thank Our Lord for graciously hearing his prayer offered in conjunction with those of St. Panteleimon and worldwide members of St. Panteleimon’s Shrine Fellowship.
  • Tuesday, March 29, 2005, Henrietta was hospitalized with a very serious heart condition shortly after Thanksgiving 2004. A Protestant, her Orthodox nephew posted her name at the Shrine and lit a vigil for her. She remained in critical condition and intensive care for weeks. She may have suffered several heart attacks after admission--one occurred during a hospital evaluation. Survival was seriously questioned.

By the grace of God and the intervention of the Most Holy Mother of God and the All Merciful Panteleimon she was released from the hospital late in January. Relatives report that she “looks wonderful” and “is doing very well” though she has 90-95% blockage and is not eligible for a stint. Macular degeneration prevents many activities, but family members drive her on outings and to church.
Blessed be God in His Saints!

Christ is Risen! + Indeed, He is Risen!
Mary Henrietta___ , born 1919, reposed June 04, 2005, having been
granted a longer and more pleasant life than her condition led us to
expect. May she know the joy of being with Christ today and forever.
Memory eternal!

  • Wooden prayer beads given the steward by John, a pious Orthodox man suffering from cancer, now hang in the Shrine in thanksgiving for the reported remission of the disease.
  • Robin, who suffered a spontaneous abortion a couple of years ago, has been taken to hospital several times because indications were that she was about to have another. The most recent hospital admission was for a C section but, again careful monitoring after admission, resulted in her being sent home.  While signs remain the same, all hope the pregnancy can be maintained as long as possible. Robin is "due" near the end of September. Vigils were lit and prayers said before St. Panteleimon, before the Shrine’s Icon of “The Image of the Church” (showing Christ in the womb of His Mother) and in the Temple.

Update: Robin's daughter, weighing 6 pounds 5 ounces, was delivered by C section at 12:15
a.m. September 2, 04; both mother and daughter are doing well.

  • Helen, has several health problems including diabetes. She is also on dialysis. Her husband, a male nurse and her primary care giver, called to say that a little more than a month ago he feared her condition was not only terminal but imminently so. He wants it known that she now "seems like a different person." Previously forbidden oats, improvements permitted its reintroduction into her diet. At her most recent examination doctors were amazed that her cholesterol has (in a short time) gone from 200 to 120, told her that her anti-cholesterol medication was working very well and were surprised when she told them that persistent side effects had forced her to discontinued it. Her husband is thankful for the obvious improvement in her condition, tells us that she does light housework and is able to walk from her wheel chair to the bed.
